Electric Transformers
Transformer is an electric tool that is operated to either step up or step down the input power or voltage to the desired amount at the output. These power transformers functions based on induction principle which states that a altering current in the primary coil will produce a magnetic field. This magnetic field will in turn produce a electromotive force in the secondary coil. When a load is connected to the secondary coil, a favored current is received from the electrical transformers. As a consequence power is transmitted from the primary coil to the secondary coil. If the power transformer is 100% effective, then the complete current in the input is transmitted to the secondary coil through mutual induction. But this is not possible in real cases as there would be a little losses like hysteresis loss, eddy current loss, mechanical loss, etc.
Step up transformer has more number of turns in the secondary coil than the primary coil so that the output power is improved . Similarly step down transformers have more quantity of turns in the primary coil than in the secondary coil. In these power transformers, the output power is lesser than the input power. This proves that the mutual induction is based on the number of turns in the coil.
